Guide on How to Install Helmet Rear Spoilers

Guide: How to Properly Install a Rear Spoiler on Your Racing Helmet

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Read Before Installation

Rear spoilers are essential for improving the airflow and aerodynamic stability of your helmet during high-speed racing. This guide will help you correctly install a rear spoiler on your helmet to ensure optimal performance and safety. The rear spoiler can be used in combination with other aerodynamic devices, such as Top Gurney, Chin Bar Gurney, and Air Intake, depending on your racing needs and preferences.

1. Ensure Compatibility

  • Helmet Size Compatibility: Make sure the rear spoiler is compatible with your helmet.

2. Measure for Correct Positioning

  • Points of Reference: To position the spoiler correctly, take accurate measurements of your helmet using the provided diagrams. Ensure that you reference the distances for points A, B, C, and D based on your helmet size.
  • Outline with Precision: Once measurements are taken, use a pencil to outline the exact position of the spoiler on your helmet. Ensure that the distance between points C and D is identical on both the left and right sides of the helmet. This symmetry is crucial for balanced aerodynamic performance.

3. Install the Spoiler

  • Prepare the Spoiler: Carefully remove the protective tape covering the adhesive on the spoiler.
  • Place the Spoiler: Using both hands, align the spoiler with the pencil outline you’ve drawn. Press firmly to ensure that the spoiler adheres securely to the helmet.
  • Final Check: Double-check that the spoiler is perfectly aligned according to the lines you traced. Once positioned, the spoiler should stay firmly in place.

4. Important Safety Considerations

  • Spoiler Behavior in Impact: Aerodynamic devices, including the rear spoiler, are designed to either break away or bend upon impact to reduce injury risks. Do not attempt to reinforce or rigidify the spoiler as it may compromise this safety feature.
  • Adhesive Application: The spoiler is affixed using double-sided adhesive. Do not permanently bond it to the helmet with any other type of adhesive.
  • Helmet Compatibility: Only use this accessory with an authorized Bell auto racing helmet to ensure safety and performance compliance.
